Irene Johnson and Doug and Ken her brothers grew up in a Moss Side hotel..probably pulled down now, but may be one of these?

For Cheshire- this may be useful, although I couldn't find the Johnson's there so far

MAP - click here Johnsons at Chorlton, Hulme, Adlington  (Thomas 1852 perhaps born at),
A possible brother  to Thomas 1852 born at Adlington later at Broughton then Chorlton  and Annie Henry at Broughton in 1901 census
(Note Adlington in census spelt Addington, and near MacClesfield , now Macclesfield).
I'm finding Johnsons with our family's Christian names at Chorlton, Hulme,
Mosside , but also some at Boughton, Ardwick, Salford and the previous generation possibly from Adlington , but many also around Prestbury,Macclesfield, and surrounding towns between Macclesfield and Manchester!

There are two series of programmes which explore the history and culture
of areas in and around Manchester. Be sure to click on those both in
the center (the first series) and those on the right under "Watch I Love MCR."

It looks like the Johnson family name originated in Cheshire?
..and here I was thinking Manchester was Lancashire?.. I must look this up!

Whitehead
Also Thomas Johnson (1852) married Ann Whitehead. there's a possibility that her father was William Whitehead(1815-1816) from Greenock, Renfrewshire,Scotland
Whitehead's around Glasgow area  for a long time
