Hi,
I have just completed the East China Adventure tour (which is the extended version of China Highlights). Our tour group consisted of 12 people (9 East China Adventure, 3 China Highlights) so 3 people left us in Shanghai when their tour completed. You will love Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. They are three huge cities but all have a completely different feel and sights to be seen. The Great Wall at Simitai is really high and steep so if you are like me and a bit wary of heights perhaps you will want to get to Beijing earlier and experience the Great Wall at a lower more touristy section (I am disappointed I didn't do this as I was too busy being scared to really enjoy the Great Wall experience). Xian is fantastic - make sure you hire a bike at the South Gate and do the hour and a half ride on top of the wall around the old city (it was great fun and you are up out of the vehicle and pedestrian traffic) - you will also love the Terracotta Warriors! My tour was a fantastic experience - I hope you enjoy yours too! Kristen

I have enough pts to travel to Japan (with japan air) or with an additional buy of 5000 pts for about AUD$170 to anywhere in Asia 1 below(includes most of China)

http://www.skywards.com/partner_details.aspx?id=tcm:136-81492

Asia1 is
Beijing, Dalian, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, Kaosiung, Kuming, Manila, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenyang, Taipei, Tianjin, Xiamen, Xian

the flights would be from Oz via Japan with Japan Air which is a good airline

Otherwise completely free travel with Emirates to either Beijing from SYD or Singapore from BN (or NZ) only.
I can fly to a different place I leave form (I asked and they said usually, but flights would have to be confirmed).

I don't have the fitness level to do long hikes, especially at 13000 + ft , which eliminates the more intersting trips

I haven't looked as yet, but was told its cheapest to book flights (internal) with www.aisaair.com (run by malaysia) (then again one site says these are unreliable at present?).. apparently oly about $40 for a local flight , but I havent checked as yet
and also look at Thai air, but these are probably more exxy
